Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :

Kapkwai to Tutum Camp

Begin your adventure with a morning transfer from Mbale via Sipi to the Kapkwai Exploration Center, the headquarters of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). After organizing your guide, porters, food, and camping gear, start your hike to Tutum Cave Camp (2,667 meters). The trek through the montane and bamboo forest reveals the hidden beauty of Tutum Cave, a spectacular natural feature tucked away within the forest. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.

Altitude Gain: 900 meters

Day 2 :

Tutum Camp to Kajeri Camp

After breakfast, continue your trek to Kajeri Camp (3,383 meters). This segment of the journey offers a rewarding hike with beautiful views and varied terrain. Arrive at Kajeri Camp for dinner and an overnight stay, readying yourself for the next day’s adventure.

Altitude Gain: 900 meters

Day 3 :

Kajeri Camp to Mude Camp

Start your day with breakfast and then embark on a trek that descends through the Muyembe area to Mude Cave Camp (3,500 meters). Here, you’ll join the Sasa Trail, known for its diverse landscapes and panoramic views. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Mude Camp.

Day 4 :

Mude Camp to Wagagai Peak and Return to Mude

After breakfast, hike through the moorland zone to reach Wagagai Peak, the highest point on Mount Elgon. The climb to Wagagai offers spectacular views of the caldera and surrounding landscapes. Return to Mude Camp for dinner and overnight, reflecting on the day’s achievements.

Day 5 :

Mude Camp Descend to Budadiri
