Begin your hike today with a 4-hour walk accompanied by Kenya Wildlife Service escorts, leading you to Koitoboss, the highest peak on the Kenyan side of Mount Elgon. After crossing the caldera into Uganda, you’ll be met by armed Ugandan Wildlife Authority rangers. They will guide you down the Ugandan trail to Mude Caves (3,500 meters), where you’ll set up camp for the night and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Prepare for the summit challenge today as you trek to Wagagai Peak (4,321 meters), the highest point on Mount Elgon. This ascent takes you along the rim of one of the world’s largest calderas, offering stunning views and a chance to see small lakes formed by ancient glaciers. Return to your Mude Caves camp for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on your achievement.

Descend through the scenic montane forest and mixed bamboo, enjoying a lunch en route. The trek takes you from heath and moorland to forested areas at 3,000 meters, eventually leading to small-scale farmlands. Along the way, encounter troops of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and various bird species.
