After lunch at the Club, The Ark’s vehicles will transfer us to the Ark.

1300 hrs;  Lunch at the Samburu Lodge or Similar
The landscape is dry and semidesertic in Samburu, except for a scattering of small bushes, and  the narrow strip of greenery bordering the Ewaso Nyiro River.
The appeal of Samburu lies in its wildlife, unique to the area. This includes the Grevy’s or Imperial zebra, whose stripes are finer than those of its cousin the Burchell zebra; The Gerenuk or giraffe-antelope, with its peculiar manner of feeding on leaves while standing on its hind legs; the pretty Reticulated Giraffe; the masked Oryx, and the blue-legged Somali Ostrich. Another inhabitant of the park is the Crocodile, the boss of the river, lying camouflaged in wait for any unsuspecting victim to come its way.

0730hrs;     Morning depart for Mt Kenya National Park.
We retrace our way south, to the Mount Kenya region Highlands of Kenya, dominated by the spectacular view of the highest mountain in the country, Mt. Kenya, standing at 5,199metres. The three peaks of the mountain got their names from the Maasai people who lived in the Highlands barely 100 years ago.
Batian, the highest peak, is the name of the ancient guiding spirit “of the people who spoke the Maa language”. The lesser peaks are named after his sons, Nelion and Lenana. The mountain then fell under Kikuyu rule, and their legend recounts that their God N’gai dwells on the mountain, and oversees a host of lesser Gods, who in turn watch over the villagers living around the mountain.

From the air, it is possible to observe the Maasai villages or “manyattas”, before reaching the celebrated Serengeti Plains, in whose northern part we find the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. On arrival at the airstrip in this Great Plains of Masai Mara we will be meet and greet by the Mara Leisure  Camp vehicles which  will transfer us to the Camp.
1300hrs; Lunch at the Camp.
1600 hrs; Afternoon game viewing drive in the reserve.
Situated in Maasia territory, this park gets its name from the Mara River. In contrast with most of the rivers in the African savannah, the river has a permanent flow of water throughout the year, attracting a great variety of wildlife. This guarantee of water, especially during the dry season, hosts great numbers of herbivores: zebras, wildebeest, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, hartebeest, topis, buffalos, elephants etc, converting the park into the one region in the world with the highest concentration of wildlife. Obviously, such a huge supply of “meat” attracts a host of predators.
We could see lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals. The possibilities of capturing these animals – on camera, and being a witness to the developments of life in the savannah, are very high. However, the Mara is not a zoo. We cannot say for sure that we will see each and every animal. The experience gives us a feeling of tracking and searching for animals, which is exciting in itself. Dinner and overnight at Mara Leisure Tented Camp. www.maraleisurecamp.com
Overnight: Mara Leisure Tented Camp.

Day 07;  DAY IN MASAI MARA  GAME RESERVE
Another day spent in the Mara with morning and afternoon game viewing drive in the rolling plains, woodland and rivers that make up the Mara. There are very high chances of seeing the 'big five'.The greatest attraction in the Mara is watching the animals in their natural element; a lion's roar, a cheetah making a kill, and the big elephant herds are all very fascinating events. You will also meet the Maasai who are the inhabitants of this reserve and are proud and largely aloof tribes who have held on to their customs and traditions for hundreds of years.
